    o In the late 1940s, 3-time Wimbledon champion Fred Perry and Austrian soccer player Tibby Wegner, produced their first sweatband, which quickly became the norm on British courts. In 1952 the pair began producing a slim-fit pique tennis shirt with embroidered laurels under the brand name Fred Perry.
